The official announcement of La Liga giants Barcelona’s first signing of the summer has on Friday been delayed.
This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana have been forced to push back their unveiling of attacking addition Anthony Gordon.
Winger Gordon touched down in Catalunya’s capital on Thursday, heading straight from the airport for his Barca medical at a nearby hospital. From here, the Englishman signed his contract, before enjoying a meal with several members of the Camp Nou board.
The plan, in turn, was for Gordon to be announced to the public as the latest member of Hansi Flick’s squad at 3pm local time on Friday.
As alluded to above, however, owing to unforeseen complications, the Spanish champions’ statement on the matter has been delayed.
As per a report from journalist Alfredo Martinez:
‘Paperwork issues delay Anthony Gordon’s signing, who still hasn’t arrived at the stadium.’
According to Barcelona’s YouTube channel, the announcement has been pushed back to 5pm local time on Friday.
