PSG vs Arsenal: Champions League final Preview, Prediction&Lineups

Arsenal face a chance to make club history as they take on holders Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Champions League on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners go into the game as Premier League champions, having brought the curtain down on their domestic campaign with a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace less than a week ago before being presented with the league trophy.

PSG also concluded their season in their last outing, but fell to a 2-1 defeat away to local rivals Paris FC, courtesy of a late turnaround. That didn't dampen the mood though as the 14-time Ligue 1 winners lifted the trophy before enjoying a near-two week break ahead of Saturday's final.

A repeat of last season's semi-final, tomorrow's match-up is simply monumental. In the final for just the second ever time, Arsenal will be eager to cap off an historic campaign with their first Champions League title while PSG are looking to become the ninth club to win back-to-back titles, and just the second since its rebranding in 1992.

Here's our preview of the Champions League final.

PSG team news

Luis Enrique had the chance to rest his side's big names in their final day defeat to Paris FC, but starting Ousmane Dembele didn't go to plan as the Ballon d'or winner was forced off after less than half an hour due to a calf injury.

However, the deadly Frenchman has stressed he is fit to start in Saturday's final, alongside Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in attack.

Nuno Mendes should be able to bounce back from a thigh concern to be include in the starting lineup, but Achraf Hakimi could miss out after sustaining a moderate hamstring injury in the semi-final triumph over Bayern Munich.

Warren Zaire-Emery could shift to right back as a result while Matvey Safonov will likely start between the sticks as Lucas Chevalier remains absent with a thigh issue.

Predicted PSG lineup vs Arsenal: Safonov; Zaire-Emery, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Arsenal team news

One question on everyone's minds is who will start at right back for Arsenal on Saturday afternoon. Ben White is unavailable through injury while Jurrien Timber has returned to training, but it is Cristhian Mosquera who has been filling in in the meantime.

He is certainly the strongest choice, but it is highly unlikely the Dutchman starts against such a deadly attack, which means Mikel Arteta will field his fellow Spaniard on the right side of defence, with potential for Timber to be introduced during the game.

Viktor Gyökeres will start in attack over Kai Havertz and will be accompanied by Leandro Trossard and Bukayo Saka, who will line up on either wing. Martin Ødegaard could start in the creative midfield role with Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly in support.

Predicted Arsenal lineup vs PSG: Raya; Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Lewis-Skelly, Rice, Ødegaard; Saka, Gyökeres, Trossard

PSG vs Arsenal score prediction

This is arguably one of the biggest games in Arsenal's history. The Gunners have won league titles before and will do so again, but they have never won the Champions League in their 140-year history and Saturday's final will be just their second attempt to do so.

With their deadly attack, PSG have all the force to make life very difficult for Arteta's side, but the Spaniard's backline is more than capable of being a tough and frustrating force to beat in Budapest.

Unlike last year's final, this will be a low-scoring affair and the ultimate victor will triumph by only a slender scorline, but of course, we have to predict that Arsenal will overcome the French giants to win the Champions League for the first ever time.

Prediction: PSG 0-1 Arsenal
