Several members of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Atlético Madrid have been afforded call-ups to Argentina’s World Cup squad for the summer.
In fact, no fewer than six players to have spent this past season plying their trade under the watch of Diego Simeone have been tasked with defending the Albiceleste’s status as world champions.
The sextet in question come in the form of Juan Musso, Nahuel Molina, Thiago Almada, Giuliano Simeone, Nico González, and Julián Alvarez.
Elsewhere, the headline name in Lionel Scaloni’s setup comes in the form of eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi.
The Barcelona icon is primed to feature in his 6th and final World Cup over the weeks and months ahead.
Also afforded call-ups are the likes of Chelsea standout Enzo Fernández, Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister, and Inter Milan goalscorer Lautaro Martínez.
