Chelsea have already agreed to sign five players for Xabi Alonso including 'brilliant' striker

Chelsea will usher in a new era this summer, as Blueco put their faith in Xabi Alonso to be the manager who will take the team to the next phase.

The Blues have been inconsistent at best under their current ownership, with the constant chopping and changing of head coaches and players doing little to help stabilise the team on the pitch.

With Alonso at the helm, there is some hope that some consistency can be found, as well as some buy-in from a young squad that want to push on and win things.

That will be a challenge, not least with the changes expected over the summer transfer window, with plenty of transfers set to be confirmed both in and out of the club.

Five deals have already been agreed before Chelsea have even started work under Alonso, so with that said, here's a look at each signing.

Emmanuel Emegha (Strasbourg)

emegha

Striker Emmanuel Emegha will be one of the first arrivals for Chelsea this summer, as he completes a switch from sister club Strasbourg in the coming weeks.

The Dutch international signed for an undisclosed fee last year, having shown signs of being a quality option for the future, with some praising him as "brilliant" at running beyond defences, while still holding a tall, physical frame.

There are concerns when it comes to the 23-year-old's injury record, however, having only been available for ten Ligue 1 games across the previous campaign.

It means Alonso will have to be cautious with introducing Emegha into action, while he has the options of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap in the same position.

Valentin Barco (Strasbourg)

Valentin Barco

The second deal between Strasbourg and Chelsea this summer (and likely not the last) will see versatile star Valentin Barco make his way to Stamford Bridge.

The former Brighton man has impressed in France, converting from a left-back into a midfielder who can help progress the ball with plenty of quality.

There were 43 appearances for the 21-year-old across all competitions last season for Strasbourg, where he managed to score three goals and assist nine.

That naturally drew the attention of some clubs, and Barco announced his exit at the end of the season, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that Chelsea is his next destination.

There will be competition, as Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, and Andrey Santos are all impressive midfield options, but some movements in the central ranks could open a position for Barco to play.

Geovany Quenda (Sporting CP)

Geovany Quenda

The most expensive deal of the summer so far will see Chelsea sign Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP in a move worth £44 million up front.

The Blues sealed a deal for the winger last March, but ensured he would stay with the Portuguese side for another season before bringing him to Stamford Bridge.

There is plenty of promise for Quenda, who had 15 goals involvements in 32 appearances over the past season, but he did miss a large portion of the campaign through a metatarsal injury.

The 19-year-old is capable of playing on either flank, but largely features on the right, bringing some much-needed quality in the wide areas for Chelsea.

Denner (Corinthians)

Another deal agreed back in 2025 is the signing of Denner from Brazilian side Corinthians, with an £11.5 million fee agreed for the 18-year-old.

The youngster plays as a left-back, but is yet to make his senior team debut, and will be one for the academy who can make an impact in the future.

Dastan Satpaev (Kairat Almaty)

Xabi Alonso

Another youngster who will be at Alonso's disposal in the future is Dastan Satpaev, who will join Chelsea from Kairat Almaty when he turns 18 in August.

The young striker has quickly risen the ranks for the team from Kazakhstan, even entering the Champions League history books with a goal that made him the third-youngest scorer in the competition's history.

There have been comparisons to Sergio Aguero in the way he plays, and if the Blues can harness that, then they will have some talent on their hands.

Where Do Chelsea Need To Strengthen Next?

While there are five deals already agreed, it all follows the same Chelsea model of landing young talents for the future who can make an impact.

That plays a large part in the inconsistency that the Blues have suffered from, with young players more likely to make mistakes, and then being sold on before they can use the experience they have gained at the club.

Therefore, it makes sense for Chelsea to look for experience to at least raise the floor of quality in the team, aiming to land those who can make an immediate impact, but without breaking the bank.

Looking at Premier League experience would be a good starting point, with a centre-back who can partner Levi Colwill, while another winger could add that little extra in the final third.

The Blues aren't far away, if things can align properly, but they need to turn things around if they have any chance of staying at the top once they aim to return.
