Mikel Arteta confirms Jurrien Timber is fit to start Champions League final

Jurrien Timber has been sidelined with an injury since Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Everton back in March, and the Dutchman’s return date has been unknown ever since.

There have been rumours that the Dutchman will be able to play in the World Cup, which has seemingly been proven correct given that Timber was selected in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad

However, if he will be available for the Champions League final has been a question on every Arsenal fan’s mind over the past few weeks, with shouts being made for either Piero Hincapie or Cristhian Mosquera to start at right-back in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.

Mikel Arteta states ‘yes’, Jurrien Timber is fit enough to play the Champions League final

When asked in the pre-final press conference if Jurrien Timber was fit, Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said ‘yes’, and followed up with a second ‘yes’ when asked if he was healthy enough to start the game.

Timber has played 43 games for the Gunners this season, scoring four goals and creating six assists in a season where he has cemented the right-back position as his only.

It seems as if updates about Timber have been kept quiet in recent weeks as to shock the footballing world before the final takes place, with the 24-year-old potentially being a crucial factor in how proceedings go on Saturday.
