FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Mohamed Salah, Enzo Fernandez and Ibrahima Konate.

Guler admits Alonso contact

Real Madrid superstar Arda Guler has admitted that he remains in contact with new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, who will begin his duties at Stamford Bridge on 1 July." href="https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2026/05/chelsea-transfer-news-arda-guler-xabi-alonso-real-madrid-enzo-fernandez-swap-deal-summer-2026" target="_blank">Real Madrid superstar Arda Guler has admitted that he remains in contact with new Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, who will begin his duties at Stamford Bridge on 1 July.

Alonso, 44, spent eight months as Real Madrid boss before his departure by mutual consent in January and he played a key role in the development of Guler, who had struggled to break into the Los Blancos starting XI during his debut season at the Bernabeu.

Guler had been heavily linked with a Real Madrid exit before the appointment of Alonso last May, and rumours of a bombshell summer move to Chelsea have emerged in the Spanish press as a result of his strong relationship with the ex-Los Blancos boss.

The Turkey starlet has now provided another update on his connection with Alonso during an interview with TRT Spor. “The truth is that we had a brilliant relationship,” Guler said.

“I felt as though he’d handed me the keys. It was exactly what I was looking for, honestly. Now he’s signed for Chelsea. I hope everything goes well for him. Of course, we’re still messaging each other.”

Desailly urges Chelsea Salah move

Ex-Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has urged his former club to re-sign Mohamed Salah on a free transfer this summer following the expiration of his contract at Liverpool." href="https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2026/05/exclusive-chelsea-transfer-news-marcel-desailly-mohamed-salah-liverpool-bosman-deal-summer-2026" target="_blank">Ex-Chelsea defender Marcel Desailly has urged his former club to re-sign Mohamed Salah on a free transfer this summer following the expiration of his contract at Liverpool.

The Egypt legend played his final game for Liverpool against Brentford last weekend and he will officially depart Anfield on a Bosman deal in July, with multiple clubs across world football understood to be keeping tabs on his situation.

Salah has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia for the past few years, but Desailly has told Chelsea to bring him back to Stamford Bridge this summer, and he believes that a return to London would be appealing to the 33-year-old.

“Salah. Bring Mohamed Salah back,” Desailly told FootballTransfers, on behalf of MrRaffle.com, when asked who new manager Xabi Alonso should sign during his first transfer window as Chelsea boss.

“You know, he's been there before and it didn't work out. Maybe Salah wants a London club for his family, for a better quality of life. It’s not that Liverpool is unlivable, but London might be much better for them. I would say he is one of those experienced players who can bring that special element into the system.”

Chelsea to try Konate approach

Chelsea are reportedly ready to ‘try their luck’ with signing Ibrahima Konate this summer, with the defender set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer.

Konate’s contract will expire in June and talks over an extension have broken down despite previous suggestions that the Frenchman was close to an agreement.

L’Equipe" href="https://www.espn.co.uk/football/story/_/id/48909150/chelsea-want-120m-enzo-fernandez-amid-potential-exit-sources" target="_blank">L’Equipe report that the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have entered into ‘much more concrete negotiations’ for Konate, which has tempted the Liverpool star to explore his options.

Chelsea are also said to be in the race but they are described as being ‘further behind’ other clubs, with Konate’s future unlikely to be decided before the start of the 2026 World Cup.

Arsenal enter Fernandez race

Arsenal have allegedly joined the race to sign Enzo Fernandez following reports that the midfielder is set to try and leave Chelsea this summer.

Fernandez has been strongly linked with a move to the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City after Chelsea’s disappointing campaign which has seen them miss out on European football for next season.

Chelsea have no desire to sell Fernandez and would demand more than €120 million to part ways with the Argentine international, who still has six years remaining on his contract.

However, CaughtOffside" href="https://www.caughtoffside.com/2026/05/29/arsenal-enzo-fernandez-chelsea-transfer/" target="_blank">CaughtOffside report that Arsenal are monitoring Fernandez’s situation, although Mikel Arteta’s side are said to be prioritising Sandro Tonali instead.
