Marcel Desailly has followed up his Mohamed Salah bombshell by urging Chelsea to launch an audacious move for another former Liverpool forward.
Chelsea‘s current frontline is heavily relying on individual brilliance from Joao Pedro. He’s been an absolute revelation following his arrival from Brighton, shoulder-barging his way to 23 goals in all competitions and earning the Chelsea Player of the Season award.
However, the other options are raw.
Young backup strikers like Liam Delap and Marc Guiu have struggled to provide consistent service or ease the goalscoring burden when Pedro is rested or marked out of games.
You have the talent in Estevao Willian and Pedro Neto, but Chelsea severely lacks an experienced, physical focal point to tie the entire attack together.

Marcel Desailly puts forward Darwin Nunez for Chelsea
Talking to Football Transfers, Marcel Desailly was quick to name Darwin Nunez as the player who could potentially lead Chelsea’s attack under Xabi Alonso.
“I also love Darwin Nunez.
“Yeah, he’s not that experienced yet, but I feel that at Chelsea he can perform. He can bring something special into the system.
“If he plays by himself up front, he can really be a great point of reference in a Xabi Alonso system.”
Chelsea should have given Joao Felix more time… 🪄

Darwin Nunez poses more of a risk for Chelsea
Signing Darwin Nunez poses a massive financial and gamble for Chelsea. Despite a potential contract termination making him available without a transfer fee, the Uruguayan reportedly demands an astronomical salary of up to £400,000 per week.
This wouldn’t be physically possible at Chelsea.
Tactically, his erratic finishing and chaotic decision-making remain a major concern. Relying on such an unpredictable forward to solve Chelsea’s goalscoring woes is an uncalculated risk.
