Jurgen Klopp a‘dream’ target for Saudi Pro League club

Jurgen Klopp has been out of managerial work since leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024. During his time at Anfield, Liverpool were crowned Premier League champions for the first time.

The 58-year-old also enjoyed major success in Europe, winning the Champions League alongside other honours, including the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

They also came close in several title races, notably against Manchester City. The former Borussia Dortmund boss is now working as Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull.

Klopp had recently been linked with a potential return to management, including speculation over a move to replace Alvaro Arbeloa at Real Madrid, who are now set to appoint Jose Mourinho as their new head coach. However, Klopp denied any talks with Real Madrid while suggesting he could return to coaching in the future.

The German said: “If Real Madrid had phoned, we would have heard about it by now. But that’s all nonsense. They haven’t called even once, not once. My agent is there, you can ask him.

“They haven’t called him either. Right now I’m not thinking about that, luckily there’s no reason to. For my age I’m quite advanced in life, but as a coach I’m not completely finished. I haven’t reached retirement age. Who knows what will happen in the coming years? But there’s nothing planned.”

According to talkSPORT, Jurgen Klopp is the “dream” managerial target for Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad club, with the side keen to convince him to return to coaching.

Al-Ittihad are searching for a new manager following the departure of Francisco Conceicao, and while club officials are said to hold genuine interest in Klopp, they also believe a deal would be extremely difficult to complete.

The club’s financial structure would make such an appointment challenging, with only additional backing from the Saudi Ministry of Finance potentially making a move viable. Despite the admiration, insiders have downplayed the possibility of advanced negotiations.

Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has also issued a brief statement via Ismael Mahmoud and winwin, amid growing speculation linking the former Liverpool manager with a return to football. Kosicke said: “There is no possibility for Klopp to manage Al-Ittihad this year”.
