Why Arsenal fans should get behind Sonny Green in Britain’s Got Talent final on Champions League Cup final night

There are some stories that just feel meant to be. As an Arsenal fan, this week already feels like one of the biggest of our lives. For the first time in 22 years a Premier League title won. A Champions League final to come against PSG. The chance for Mikel Arteta’s side to do something we have dreamed about for years.

But whilst Arsenal fan chase European immortality, one of our own Arsenal fan Sonny Green is chasing his own dream on national television. Sonny Green, spoken word poet, proud Southend lad and massive Arsenal supporter. Who would be our in Budapest, is in the live final of Britain’s Got Talent.

Arsenal fans vote Sonny Green on BGT

ReadArsenal.com hopes every Arsenal fan gets behind Sonny Green in the Britain’s Got Talent final on Champions League Cup final night and complete what we’re calling ‘The Sonny Green Quadruple’

Not just because he supports Arsenal. But because Sonny represents so much of what football, community and identity are supposed to be about. What modern day life is stealing from us day to day.

He is real. He is emotional. He is passionate. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He speaks about family, belonging, fatherhood, pride, struggle and hope in a way that feels honest. In a world that often rewards polish over personality, Sonny has stood on that stage and been completely himself.

That is why people have connected with him.

This is what England means to me

His first Britain’s Got Talent audition, “This Is What England Means To Me”, was not just a performance. It was a statement. It was a man standing up and saying something about place, pride and people.

Then came the semi-final, when his poem about fatherhood moved the room, brought KSI to tears and saw Simon Cowell press the Golden Buzzer to send him straight into the final.

That does not happen unless something lands. And Sonny has landed. For Arsenal fans, there is another reason this story matters. Sonny is one of us.

He has not suddenly appeared in an Arsenal shirt because the club is successful. His love for the Gunners has been there for years. He has previously appeared on AFTV in the Arsenal fan anthem “Gooners and We’re Gunning” alongside the late Heavy D, and his own online content has included Arsenal clips and reactions. He understands the emotion of this club because he has lived it like the rest of us.

The hope. The hurt. The false dawns. The rebuild. The belief. And now, maybe, the glory.

That is what makes Saturday night so special. Arsenal are in the Champions League final. Sonny Green is in the Britain’s Got Talent final. A Gooner from Southend could watch the club he loves fight for the biggest trophy in European football, then step into his own final with the country watching.

You could not script it better.

Sonny talked Southend United to the trophy

This town has already had one huge Wembley moment this month. Southend United won the FA Trophy after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Wealdstone, giving the Shrimpers and their supporters a day they will never forget. Sonny was there. He backed the club. He promoted the final. He has spoken with pride about Southend in the same way he speaks with pride about everything that has shaped him.

So yes, people are calling it a Sonny Green quadruple.

Arsenal have won the Premier League.

Southend United have won at Wembley.

Arsenal could win the Champions League.

And Sonny Green could win Britain’s Got Talent.

No, it is not an official football quadruple. It is not something UEFA are going to recognise. But for Sonny, for Southend, and for Arsenal fans who love a story with a bit of soul, it is something arguably even better.

It is personal.

It is emotional.

It is human.

And that is exactly why we should support him.

On Saturday, Arsenal fans will rightly be consumed by the Champions League final. The thought of Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, William Saliba and this extraordinary team lifting that trophy is enough to make any Gooner emotional.

But when Britain’s Got Talent opens its vote, we should remember Sonny too. Because one of our own is in another final.

Back the Gooner in the BGT final.

Saturday night could already be historic for Arsenal.

But it could also be historic for Sonny Green.

Come on Arsenal. And come on Sonny.
