The huge bonus Nicolas Jover is paid after every Arsenal set-piece goal has emerged

Nicolas Jover has become one of the most valuable members of Mikel Arteta's backroom staff at Arsenal, and it appears he’s getting well compensated for his performance.

The Frenchman has been the driving force behind one of the most dominant set-piece operations English football has ever seen. In the 2025/26 Premier League season, Arsenal scored more set-piece goals than any other side and conceded fewer than anyone else, a remarkable double achievement that underlines just how meticulously Jover has approached both ends of the pitch, especially when it comes to corners.

His work hasn’t gone unnoticed, the terms of his contract have ensured he'll be rewarded in a manner that reflects the impact he’s had on Arsenal's historic campaign, where they’ve captured a first Premier League title in 22 years, and stand on the brink of Champions League glory.

According to FootballInsider247, Jover's contract includes a £10,000 bonus for every goal Arsenal score from a corner or free-kick. On the face of it, that sounds like a tidy incentive. In practice, given what Arsenal have produced this season, it's turned into something much bigger than that.

Arteta's side broke the all-time Premier League record for goals scored from corners in a single season, netting 19. They also scored four in the Champions League on their run to the final in Budapest, and a further five across the domestic cup competitions. In total, Arsenal have scored 34 non-penalty, set-piece goals across all competitions this season, meaning, in theory, Jover has earned a cool £340,000.

Jover isn’t a name that dominates back page headlines, but within the game his reputation is exceptional. Arsenal appointed him from Manchester City in 2021, with Arteta, who knew the Frenchman well from his own time at the Etihad.

The 44-year-old arrived with a CV that already carried serious weight. He’d worked with Montpellier, the Croatian national team, and Brentford. In three years at the Bees, a total of 46 set-piece goals were scored. What he built at Arsenal, however, surpasses all of it.

Who is Arsenal's 'Genius' Set-Piece Coach Nicolas Jover

GIVEMESPORT's Nicolas Jover profile provides all you need to know about the Arsenal set-piece specialist who also worked with Man City and Brentford.

Not everyone has been generous in their assessment of Arsenal's methods, however. Jover is a notably animated presence in his technical area, at times drawing as much attention as his manager, and his methods have attracted their fair share of criticism from opposition camps.

The most scathing possibly comes from former Barcelona centre-back and Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman, remarking that "without corners, Arsenal wouldn't have been champions." It's hardly going to keep Jover or Arteta up at night, but it speaks to a larger frustration felt across the game at just how comprehensively Arsenal have mastered the dark arts of the dead ball.

His success has inevitably attracted attention from elsewhere, but Jover is expected to remain at the club and sign a new contract when Arteta does. The Spaniard's current deal is due to expire in 2027, one that's aligned with Jover’s. It would be no surprise if any new terms include an even more lucrative bonus structure for the Frenchman.
