"Expected to...."- James Pearce has now dropped massive new Liverpool transfer claim

**Legendary Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is now “expected to stay” at the club beyond the summer transfer window, according to journalist James Pearce.**

The Reds have already lost Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson, while Ibrahima Konate also looks all but certain to move on to pastures new.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold leaving last year, too. Liverpool must be careful that they don’t leave themselves short of true experienced leaders, so keeping hold of Alisson is vital.

Giorgi Mamardashvili hasn’t yet fully convinced since his transfer from Valencia, and injuries aside, the Reds’ No.1 is arguably as good as ever.

Writing on [_X_](https://x.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/2060350419713270188?s=20) on Friday, the reliable Pearce reported that Alisson is likely to remain a Liverpool player for at least one more year, in a big boost:

_“Alisson expected to stay at Liverpool this summer. Interest from Juventus but their hopes of signing him receding with LFC showing no willingness to let their long-serving No 1 leave. Club stance unchanged since they triggered one-year option in March.”_

**Alisson still a colossal figure for Liverpool…when fit!**

-----------------------------------------------------------

Alisson’s injuries are now far from ideal, with the 33-year-old likely to miss a chunk of seasons with hamstring issues or something else, but keeping him still makes complete sense.

He remains a colossal performer when he is fit and firing, as he showed at home to Brentford on the final day of the Premier League season, and [Arne Slot](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/2023202/Arne-Slot-Alisson-Liverpool-PSG-Rio-Ferdinand) hailed his performance against Paris Saint-Germain last term, saying:

_“I don’t think there is a goalkeeper that played at this level, which is normal because he’s the best in the world. I have some very good players as a manager, but never had the best goalkeeper in the world. And that I think he is, he showed that today.”_

Alisson is also still far from old for a goalkeeper, and there is no reason why he can’t remain a world-class player for another five years or so, assuming fitness woes don’t drag him down.

For now, it looks as though Liverpool fans can breathe a sigh of relief that he will be around for another season, but a few more on top of that wouldn’t go amiss.
