Staggering: Every PSG player's wages revealed ahead of Champions League final vs Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain have spent the best part of 15 years showing the world of football what financial excess looks like. Since Qatar Sports Investments completed their takeover of the club in 2011, PSG have operated in a tier that few clubs can match when it comes to spending power, routinely breaking transfer records and handing out wage packets of equal measure in turn. The Neymar era, the Kylian Mbappe era, the Lionel Messi experiment, each chapter more extravagant than the last, and each one a demonstration of just how far oil money can take a football club.

This season, however, has been a more complicated story than PSG's hierarchy would have liked domestically. They did retain the Ligue 1 title, but the margin was far tighter than in previous campaigns, finishing just six points clear of Lens, a considerably smaller gap than the dominant winning margins of recent years. They were also dumped out of the Coupe de France by city rivals Paris FC. Yet for all the inconsistency in domestic competition, they’ve saved their very best for Europe, navigating their way through to the Champions League final in Budapest, where they face Arsenal, with a second title in a row on offer. It’s the stage their owners have long craved, and the wage bill assembled to reach it is predictably eye-watering.

Capology have crunched the numbers to find out exactly what the PSG squad’s compensation package looks like on a weekly basis, with over €3.5 million being shelled out in total each week.

Here’s how it breaks down for each first-team player:

Goalkeepers

PSG goalkeeper Matvéi Safónov

PSG's goalkeeping department was headlined by Lucas Chevalier. The €122k-per-week shot stopper was signed for €40 million to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma, who wasn’t wanted any more by Luis Enrique at the end of last season. But a combination of poor form, pressure from PSG’s unforgiving fans, and injuries have seen him benched for most of the season.

The man who starts between the sticks earns more than €50k less per-week than the man he was supposed to be playing second fiddle to. Matvei Safonov earns €70k-per-week, and the 27-year-old Russian international is expected to start the Champions League final. Should he play a significant part in defending their European crown, he’s likely to be the man starting in goal next season.

Completing the goalkeeping ranks is Renato Marin, on €8.6k-per-week. Despite being third-choice, Chevallier’s poor form and Enrique not being fully committed to Safonov yet, might mean a chance at more game-time could be realistic in the future.

Defenders

It’s in defence where PSG's wage structure truly begins to take flight. Achraf Hakimi sits at the top of the pile among the backline, earning a staggering €262k-per-week, making the Moroccan right-back one of the highest-paid defenders in world football.

Club captain Marquinhos, the heartbeat of this PSG side for over a decade, earns €259k-per-week and remains one of the most commanding centre-backs in the game despite entering the latter stages of his career. Alongside him, Lucas Hernandez takes home €255k-per-week, a figure that makes him one of the most expensive rotation players in the world.

Nuno Mendes is one of the best fullbacks in world football at the moment, and earns €210k-per-week, while Willian Pacho and Ukrainian Illia Zabarnyi earn €175k and €105k per-week respectively. Ahead of the Champions League final, PSG’s defence currently has a slight crisis, with Hakimi, Mendes and Pacho all listed as doubts. Lucas Beraldo rounds out the defensive options on €80k-per-week but has recently been deployed as a defensive midfielder.

Midfielders

vitinha

The engine room of Luis Enrique's side is built around some serious quality, and the wages reflect it. Vitinha leads the midfield wage standings at €227k-per week, a figure that’s become easier and easier to justify with each passing month. The Portuguese international is at the centre of everything PSG do in possession, dictating tempo, recycling the ball and covering ground at a remarkable rate. The 26-year-old has recently been tipped by many to take home this year’s Ballon d’Or award.

You don't always have to be the most glamorous player on the pitch to impress a Ballon d'Or winner.

Warren Zaire-Emery is one of the jewels of PSG's academy. He earns €220k-per week, a contract that makes him the second-highest-paid under-21 player, behind Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

Vitinha’s fellow countryman Joao Neves earns €175k-per-week and is nailed on to start the final alongside him in midfield, the same is likely for the World Cup with Portugal too. Spaniard Fabian Ruiz earns €122k-per-week, while South Korean international Kang-in Lee takes home €87.5k-per-week. Senny Mayulu, the youngest member of the midfield group, earns €42k-per-week as he continues to develop and push for more regular involvement.

Forwards

Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele

This is where it gets truly eye-watering; the forward line's remuneration is in a different stratosphere entirely. Current holder of the Ballon d’Or, Ousmane Dembele, sits at the very top of PSG's wage structure, earning a colossal €350k-per-week.

The former Barcelona winger has been wreaking havoc on opposition defences with his pace and directness. Though he remains somewhat injury prone, having only recently confirmed he’s fit to face Arsenal in the final of the Champions League, the worst of his injuries occurred in his Barca days, and PSG have taken all the benefits from his newfound fitness.

Close behind him is Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on €315k-per week. The Georgian winger arrived with enormous expectations following his stunning performances at Napoli and delivered on the biggest stages immediately, contributing heavily during their run to the Champions League title last season.

Bradley Barcola earns €140k-per-week, and while his talent is undeniable, the 23-year-old has found it difficult to break into the side ahead of Desire Doue, whose 2-goal performance in last year’s 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan in the Champions League final put him on the map. For his efforts, the 20-year-old Frenchman earns €133k-per-week, a modest sum compared to many of his teammates, but a renewal is rumoured to be on the table, which is likely to see his wage soar over and above many of his teammates when it comes to his wage.

Together, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia and Doue form one of the most frightening front lines in world football, and their wage packets are a fair reflection of the damage they cause.

Goncalo Ramos earns €122k-per-week, providing quality depth at the striker position. At the other end of the scale, youngsters Ibrahim Mbaye, Quentin Ndjantou, and Dro Fernandez are on €17.5k, €28k, and €35k per-week respectively.
