It has been an eventful Saturday.

With the conclusion of the Premier League season fading into the distance, attention had begun to move towards what Liverpool’s transfer activity could look like this summer.

All signs had pointed towards Arne Slot staying in charge throughout the summer and there was a sense that it would be an almighty struggle for the Dutchman to win over the fanbase again despite winning the Premier League title during his debut campaign.

The opportunity to do that has now been snatched away from him after Liverpool decided to part ways with Arne Slot this morning with immediate effect.

His reaction to the news was heartfelt, and it has left many wondering why he didn’t get the sendoff he deserved, with this being a decision that seemed to be coming for quite some time.

Arne Slot said: “It’s been an amazing ride together with Liverpool. I am so grateful that we were able to win the league last season.”

After suffering 20 defeats in all competitions this season, it has been a disappointing title defence from the Reds and Arne Slot has been dismissed as a result.

Whilst Andoni Iraola is the current frontrunner to succeed Arne Slot, David Ornstein has revealed the three managers that the Reds will continue to look at in the aftermath of Slot’s dismissal.

Posting to X, Ornstein says: “Andoni Iraola clear favourite to succeed Arne Slot as Liverpool boss. LFC may talk to other candidates like Stuttgart’s Sebastian Hoeness and Pierre Sage of Lens but 43yo Spaniard leading contender post AFCB exit + close to Richard Hughes.”

Richard Hughes is close to Iraola due to the bond they formed whilst together at Bournemouth.

Iraola has had offers from other clubs and it remains to be seen whether he decides to join the Liverpool project.
