AC Milan target former Liverpool boss Arne Slot as new manager

Arne Slot is the leading candidate to become AC Milan’s new manager, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

Slot has just been sacked by Liverpool following his struggles with the Merseyside giants this season.

He guided Liverpool to a Premier League title in his first season, an achievement that could have convinced Milan to make a move for him.

The Dutchman also boasted a 58.4 percent winning ratio as the Reds manager, a figure bettered only by Jurgen Klopp in the club’s history.

The 47-year-old also led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title and the KNVB Cup before joining Liverpool in the summer of 2024.

Slot’s potential appointment may not be wholeheartedly accepted by Milan fans, considering the dire end to his reign at Liverpool.

Meanwhile, the Rossoneri have been linked with several managerial candidates following the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri.

They have also been linked with Andoni Iraola, who is the leading candidate to replace Slot at Liverpool.

Oliver Glasner is also reportedly on their radar. The Austrian guided Crystal Palace to the UEFA Conference League title, making him a viable option.

Milan endured a terrible campaign, missing out on Champions League qualification for the second consecutive season.

They aim to make several changes after sacking Allegri, CEO Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare, and head of recruitment Geoffrey Moncada.

Ramon Planes is reportedly the frontrunner for the Sporting director role. He previously worked at Real Betis.

Milan must ensure they appoint the right candidates to the various vacant roles at the club as they seek to regain their status among European heavyweights.
