Liverpool Football Club confirmed on Saturday afternoon that they had parted ways with Arne Slot after two seasons of the Dutch manager at the helm.

Andoni Iraola has emerged as a leading candidate to succeed Arne Slot, with the 43-year-old Spaniard recently departing Bournemouth.

Iraola was appointed three years ago at Bournemouth by current Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and the relationship between the pair is thought to provide the Reds with a major advantage in acquiring the well sought after manager.

He has been linked with AC Milan and Crystal Palace in recent weeks but at the time of writing this all signs are pointing towards the manager heading to Merseyside.

Liverpool have already started the process of appointing Arne Slot’s successor, which comes with it a backroom staff reshuffle.

As a result, the Liverpool Echo have reported that “Slot is unlikely to be the only departure with the Dutchman expected to be followed by a number of his coaching staff. Slot’s assistants Sipke Hulshoff and Giovanni van Bronckhorst are both expected to leave.”

Van Bronckhorst was recently linked with a move to Feyernoord and Arne Slot’s dismissal could accelerate that move.

Arne Slot was tasked with the immense responsibility of succeeding Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and he achieved the unthinkable during his first season by winning the Premier League.

He will forever be etched into the history of one of England’s biggest clubs and he leaves with that knowledge.

His dismissal will be a tough one to take for him personally, but with reports already emerging that he is the leading candidate to take over at AC Milan, success may just be round the corner for him once again.
