Acquiring the firepower that Liverpool was no easy task and that was evident given the ongoing transfer saga that aw the Reds fight all summer to secure the signing of Alexnder Isak.

Despite Alexander Isak and other now within Liverpool’s ranks, the Reds title defence quickly fell away after initially winning their first five games of the season.

What followed next was a disappointing and hugely frustrating campaign which saw Arne Slot become increasingly unable to turn things around.

The euphoria of his title winning debut campaign quickly faded away and the worrying situation came to its inevitable conclusion this morning after the club decided it was best for themselves and Arne Slot to part ways.

However, the message throughout the season despite the increasing criticism was that Arne Slot would stay at the helm.

Recent reports of Feyernoord assistant coach Etienne Reijnen being close to a switch to Liverpool seemed to make it clear that the club intended to follow through with their plan to stick with Arne Slot.

That plan fell apart after they held a season review with Arne Slot and dismissed the head coach.

Because of the ongoing messages of support from the board, it has been revealed that Arne Slot was shocked, as well as several players, that he had been let go by the club.

Lewis Steele, writing for the Daily Mail, said: “He was surprised at the news having been given support in the last week but is not said to be licking his wounds. Instead, he leaves with pride at what he accomplished at the club. Players were also said to be shocked.”

Some players may have been dropped hints by the club but the players are still shocked that Arne Slot has actually departed Liverpool for good.

DaveOCKOP can exclusively reveal that Liverpool had told some players a number of weeks ago, specifically some who were looking for loan moves in the upcoming window, to hold off on any plans as they may be involved in pre-season.

The message was seemingly delivered amid thoughts that a new head coach could arrive and take a fresh look at the squad.

It is interesting to learn this as Liverpool have never been seen as a club to make rash decisions and the belief that they intended to stick with Arne Slot despite the noise from outside echoed that philosophy.

But as it happens, despite being told otherwise until recently, Arne Slot can leave as a title-winning manager, safe in the belief that he departed Anfield before the possibility of his tenure turning sourer.

After a tumultuous season on and off the pitch, the Liverpool players will have to pick themselves up amidst another setback and start again at a new look Liverpool in pre-season.
