Ousmane Dembele scored Paris Saint-Germain's equaliser against Arsenal in the Champions League final after stepping up to take a penalty with his weaker right foot. Cristhian Mosquera conceded the spot-kick after fouling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia midway through the second half in Budapest.
PSG's designated penalty taker is Dembele, and the France international made no mistake, firing past David Raya to cancel out Kai Havertz's opening goal inside six minutes. The strike was tucked away with minimal fuss, but several fans pointed out that he did so with his right foot rather than his left.
One user on X said: "Who noticed Dembele played that penalty with right foot? Psychology ready for it." Another asked: "How’s dembele taking a penalty with his right foot when he’s left footed in a champs league final."
A further one highlighted: "Dembele has been on rw playing with his left foot but decided to play the pen with his right." A fourth pointed out: "Dembele is left footed but uses right foot to take penalties".
Dembele explained his approach while playing for Rennes. After being asked by an interviewer which was his stronger foot, he said: "Left footed. I'm more left-footed, yeah."
The interviewer then pointed out that the forward does not take penalties with his left. Dembele explained: "Because I shoot better with my right foot".
