Raheem Sterling could be fired by Feyenoord after being arrested on suspicion of drug-driving.
The former England international is alleged to have crashed his Lamborghini at around 9 am local time on the M3 near Surrey on Thursday, with the incident now under investigation.
Sterling’s future at the Dutch club is in serious doubt, with Feyenoord monitoring developments as he approaches the final stages of his $470,000-a-month contract (£350,000). The winger moved to the Netherlands in an attempt to step out of the spotlight after his contract at Chelsea was terminated. He signed a $2.6 million (£2 million) deal plus bonuses at the club, managed by Robin van Persie, but has struggled for game time, making just eight appearances despite Feyenoord’s qualification for the Champions League.
Hampshire Police released a statement on Thursday, which read: "Just before 9am on Thursday, we received reports that a Lamborghini was in collision with barriers on the M3 southbound, close to the Minley Interchange.
"No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.
"The driver, a 31-year-old man, from Berkshire, has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, driving dangerously, possession of a Class C drug and failing to provide a specimen.

"He has been bailed while our enquiries continue."
The 31-year-old has experienced a turbulent spell in his career in recent years.
He initially rose to prominence at Liverpool before joining Manchester City, where he went on to win four Premier League titles during a highly successful stint at the Etihad Stadium.
He was later sold to Chelsea in 2022, but struggled to replicate his best form and was subsequently loaned to Arsenal, where he scored just once in 28 appearances.
His Chelsea contract was eventually terminated in January, after which he joined Feyenoord in a bid to revive his career in the Netherlands.

Following Sterling's final outing for the club, Van Persie said: "Personally, I struggle with the cynicism surrounding him. I think respect is more appropriate. In any case, I don't like cynicism.
"I can't stand the whole atmosphere around him. Everyone has to know their place in that. And I think we sometimes go a bit overboard in the Netherlands regarding that.
"He has scored 200 goals in England and played 82 international matches. And that is regardless of whether you think he plays well or not. But I think the way we handle this as a footballing nation is really very bad."
