Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos has been praised for his reaction to Arsenal losing the Champions League final. The Gunners lost on a penalty shootout to PSG in the showpiece fixture at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on Saturday night.
The tie finished 1-1 after 90 minutes with Kai Havertz on the score sheet in the opening minutes, before Ousmane Dembele equalised for PSG from the penalty spot just after the hour mark.
The final eventually went to a penalty shootout, with PSG claiming a 4-3 victory on spot-kicks.
Gabriel missed the final penalty of the shootout and was immediately consoled by his Arsenal teammates. Marquinhos also went over to the Gunners star, who is his teammate for Brazil, and offered him his support.
TNT Sports commentator Ally McCoist was quick to deliver praise to Marquinhos for offering his support to Gabriel.
“I'm gutted for him [Gabriel], absolutely gutted for him,” McCoist said while on commentary for TNT Sports.
“I mention something that we saw there that was absolutely fantastic, as soon as he missed it, do you know who the first person was up to him? Marquinhos, his Brazilian centre-back pal and gave him the biggest cuddle you've ever seen.
“It'll mean nothing to him at this moment in time, but what a touch it was.”
