Arsenal have made £141.18m in Champions League prize money

Arsenal are set to bank record Champions League prize money - despite falling short in Budapest on penalties against PSG.

Following a dramatic 1-1 draw, the Gunners were beaten 4-3 on spot-kicks as Gabriel Magalhaes unfortunately fired over at the Puskas Arena from 12-yards.

Mikel Arteta's men had already claimed around £125.18million in prize money prior to Saturday's showpiece final.

While they did not get their hands on the trophy, they still collected an additional £16m for finishing runners-up.

It's been some Champions League campaign for Arsenal, who also banked £85.3m earlier in the season from the initial TV money and rankings pool (worth £49.6m).

On the pitch, they've also generated a wealth of cash through performances. They won all eight of their league phase matches, topping the pile to bank £15.8m.

In doing that, they also sealed a ticket straight through to the last 16, avoiding the competitive play-off round. That was also worth an extra £11.3m.

Topping the standings also saw them net £8.6m as UEFA distribute money to each position in the final league phase standings. The higher up you finish, the more money you get.

Beating Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16, sealing qualification to the quarter-finals was worth £10.8m. The Gunners drew 1-1 in Germany before winning the second leg 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal sadly fell short in Budapest, losing on penalties to PSG

Arsenal drew Sporting CP in the last-eight but battled past the Portuguese outfit 1-0 on aggregate following Kai Havertz's late first-leg winner in Lisbon.

Reaching the semi-finals, where Arsenal squared off with Atletico Madrid, was also worth £10.8m.

It was a tough match-up against Atletico. The Premier League winners drew the first-leg 1-1 in Spain following some VAR controversy before edging the second-leg 1-0 in north London courtesy of Bukayo Saka's winner.

Reaching the final in Budapest, Arsenal's first Champions League final since 2006, was worth a whopping £15.97m to the Gunners' coffers.
