John Terry and Trevoh Chalobah react as Chelsea tease Arsenal after Champions League final loss

There was a small crumb of comfort for Chelsea supporters on Saturday evening as Arsenal ended a stunning campaign by losing to PSG on penalties in the Champions League final.

Just five years ago, it was Chelsea lifting the trophy as now-Arsenal star Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game against Man City. A year ago, Chelsea smashed PSG 3-0 in the final of the Club World Cup.

Who are YOU most excited to see at the World Cup?

Will anyone be lifting the famous old trophy?

But football moves quickly, and after a disastrous season, Chelsea failed to qualify for Europe ahead of the 2026-27 season. Arsenal, meanwhile, prepared to take on PSG in the 2026 Champions League final.

It came little after ending a 22-year wait to be crowned Premier League champions. But after the two sides could not be split following 120 minutes of tension, Arsenal finally lost during a penalty shootout.

Chelsea tease Arsenal with immediate post after final defeat

It doesn’t really feel like Chelsea are in a position to be teasing Arsenal at the moment, and yet, after Gabriel had blazed his crucial spot-kick over the bar, Chelsea decided to rub salt in Arsenal’s wounds.

On Instagram, Chelsea promoted tickets for a Stamford Bridge tour. Nothing untoward with that, yet alongside the caption was the Champions League trophy, and banners emblazoned ‘London’s finest’.

The timing, along with the clear reminder that Chelsea have won the Champions League on multiple occasions and Arsenal are yet to do so, was an obvious dig at Arsenal following their narrow defeat.

The caption read: “Come and visit London’s Home of Trophies. Book your Stadium Tour at Stamford Bridge now via the link on our story or in our bio.”

In the early hours of Sunday, Chelsea took to Instagram once again. This time, they teased themselves by suggesting they deserved “another” red card for the post, with Chelsea’s ill-discipline a theme of 2025-26.

They applauded Arsenal for winning the Premier League and coming within one kick of the ball from completing a superb double. They posted: “We probably deserve another red card for that last post!

“But in all seriousness, congratulations to Arsenal on winning the Premier League and a great run in the Champions League. Looking forward to picking up the battle again with you next season.”

John Terry and Trevoh Chalobah react to Chelsea’s post

Chelsea’s post didn’t go unnoticed among supporters. Some were stunned by Chelsea’s reaction to Arsenal’s defeat, some found it hilarious. Others felt the Blues are not in a position to be poking fun.

Yet, Trevoh Chalobah and John Terry enjoyed it. Chelsea defender Chalobah commented, “we’ve won it all”, with a heart-eyes emoji. Terry revelled in the post with three laughing faces and the word “timing”.

Terry himself had shown his sympathy towards Arsenal and Gabriel on his own TikTok following the loss having famously missed a Champions League final penalty, slipping during a defeat to Man United.
