“Arsenal Are A Team I Follow”–£60M Rated Target Offers Big Transfer Hint

AC Milan winger Rafael Leao has named Arsenal as one of the Premier League clubs that he likes to watch on TV.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a transfer to England over the past few weeks.

When asked about the Premier League on the Cernucci Podcast (quotes via TMW), Leao mentioned two teams:

“Of course, I often look at the Premier League. I like Manchester United, especially for Cristiano Ronaldo, who is my idol, but also Arsenal are a team I follow on television.

Is Leao a transfer target?

It was reported at the start of May that the Gunners had joined the likes of United, Manchester City and Liverpool in keeping tabs on the 26-year-old’s situation.

There is an expectation that Leao will leave Milan, especially if the Rossoneri miss out on Champions League football for a second season in a row, which they have done.

A fee between £50m and £60m is seen an acceptable amount. However, the sacking of manager Max Allegri and the departure of sporting director Igli Tare may change things.

Arsenal want to strengthen the left flank

Adding more firepower to the front line is said to be a priority for the summer transfer window. Manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta have, though, not decided on whether to bring in a young striker or another option on the left wing.

Leao may well be among the candidates if they do decide to reinforce the left-hand side, but there are other names under consideration too.

Marcus Rashford has surprisingly been discussed as a potential target, while there is said to be interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers.

Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi may enter the mix if Arteta feels a striker is needed instead. A replacement for Gabriel Jesus could be required, with the club having set their asking price for the Brazilian, who has just a year left on his contract.
