Arsenal's players looked devastated as they left their Budapest hotel after losing the Champions League final. Mikel Arteta's side were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra-time.

Gabriel Magalhaes smashed the decisive spot-kick over the crossbar as Arsenal missed out on winning Europe's elite club competition for the first time. Players were left heartbroken on the pitch after the game and the dejection continued into this morning, as the Gunners boarded the team bus back to Budapest Airport.

Captain Martin Odegaard was pictured leading his team out of the hotel, with Gabriel, David Raya, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino among the gutted figures. Declan Rice, who covered his face with a baseball cap, followed behind and seemed the most upset, while Piero Hincapie had his head down.

Eberechi Eze - who missed Arsenal's second penalty in the shootout - tried to look upbeat alongside Jurrien Timber. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was also spotted taking his suitcase on the coach as his side looked to move on after a bruising night at the Puskas Arena.

They have the chance to do just that when they have their open-top bus parade to celebrate winning the Premier League title at 2pm this afternoon. The parade will follow a roughly five-mile loop through Islington, taking in much of Highbury, Canonbury and Upper Street before returning to the Emirates Stadium.

The women's side will also be present on the parade to celebrate their FIFA Women's Champions Cup triumph, after they beat Corinthians at the Emirates back in February.

While the Arsenal players may find it difficult to change their mood to an upbeat one for the parade, supporters have been gathering in their droves across the streets of north London to welcome their players back. Thousands were stood waiting in the early hours of the morning as they tried to get the best seat in the house.

Arteta is expected to deliver a message to the Arsenal supporters at the parade and he was asked post-PSG about what he'll say to them when he touches down in England. "To the people, I already know how the team feels about them," the Spaniard said in his press conference following Saturday's defeat.

"We are very grateful for the support they have given us throughout the season, in times of difficulty, as they have been with us, and it has been a real joy to win a league after 22 years.

"It hurts, it hurts a lot for them not to win, because I can't even imagine what would have happened. We all had a huge desire to win it and tomorrow will be a beautiful day for sure."
