Ibrahima Konate is set to depart Liverpool on a free transfer this summer after the club could not agree on an extension with the player.
Despite many attempts from the club to try and find common ground with Ibrahima Konate, the defender wished to become one of the highest earners at the club and that is something that Liverpool could not give him.

As a result it is a frustrating situation for the club who see another player who could’ve left for a significant transfer fee leave for absolutely nothing.
Now that his time with Liverpool is over, the Frenchman is sure to not be short of suitors as he looks for his next club this summer.
Real Madrid’s interest in him has been documented for some time, whilst Bayern Munich and PSG have also been credited with being linked to the player.
Whilst three European giants would be a desirable destination for many players, the Saudi Pro League has grown to be largely popular too.
FootMercato have revealed that Al-Ittihad are interested in signing Ibrahima Konate this summer.
The report states: “According to our information, Al-Ittihad has taken a position on the issue. The Saudi club greatly appreciates the Frenchman’s profile and is closely monitoring his contractual situation, aware of the rare opportunity that a player of this caliber represents, available on a free transfer.”
However, Al-Ittihad currently find themselves in a weak position when it comes to convincing players to join.
They have just come back off a disappointing season having finished fifth in the league, far from the expectations they set for themselves ahead of the campaign.
But, the Saudi Pro League side remain committed to entering the market and according to the report view the defender as a priority target to strengthen their defence.
Ibrahima Konate departs the club after making 183 appearances for the club and winning two League Cups, one FA Cup and a Premier League title.
