It was a disappointing night for Arsenal in Budapest, as the Gunners were beaten by PSG on penalties after a 1-1 draw following 120 minutes of action. The decisive moment came with the final spot-kick of the shootout, condemning Arsenal to a heartbreaking defeat.
Centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes was the player who missed Arsenal’s fifth penalty, after a performance that saw French media commend the Brazilian as one of the North London club’s best players.
Magalhaes was also told he should hold no ‘shame’ over the miss by ex-footballer and pundit Rio Ferdinand, and it seems like the wider football community was in support of the 28-year-old rather than against him.
The Arsenal number 6 has come out with a statement following the event, in a reveal that will have Gunners fans sympathising with one of their standout players throughout the season.
