Inter Milan are pushing to sign Liverpool‘s Curtis Jones and this can help the Reds seal an incoming.
This week, SportWitness covered how there is a ‘great gulf’ between the two clubs for the midfielder. Talks have been held but the gap in valuation means the Nerazzurri are keen on executing a possible deal in July.
By then, they can have more money because of sales. They are also relying on Jones’ expiring contract in 2027 to put pressure on Liverpool to grant a discount.
More information is now emerging from the discussions and Denzel Dumfries can end up being part of Jones’ exit from Anfield.
Englishman keen on deal

At that point, Liverpool ended up asking for Denzel Dumfries in a swap deal. This played a part in Inter moving away from Jones but things can now change.
Dumfries valued at €25m
The newspaper further note how Dumfries’ situation can be key. Liverpool remain interested in the Dutchman, who was a fan in Arne Slot.
He currently has a release clause worth €25m, which wasn’t active in January but will be active now. The wing-back is keen on moving away and seeking a chance at another club. There is a chance he was discussed between the two clubs on Tuesday.
As a result, there is a possibility of Liverpool ending up with the 29-year-old for €25m. For the same price, Jones can end up at Inter, leaving both parties satisfied.

It feels like this is the Italian media’s attempt to simply look at favourable possibilities for Inter. While Liverpool could be interested in Dumfries, they could also seek a discount in a deal for him, if Inter want the same for Jones.
What is clear is that the 26-year-old wants to leave Anfield permanently. That should be enough to put pressure on the Reds, who will feel the pressure because of his contract too.
While Gazzetta does complicate the scenario, it might not be that difficult. It will come down to whether Jones really wants to push for an exit and this will help Inter get the desired discount.
