Arsenal's hopes of signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia were likely booted into touch the moment Gabriel Magalhaes heartbreakingly did the same thing with his penalty.
This year, Mikel Arteta's side had been linked with an audacious move for the Paris Saint-Germain ace. Before he was substituted, the Georgian powerhouse tormented the right-side of the Gunners' defence in the Champions League final, winning the penalty that led to Ousmane Dembele's equaliser.
He got past Cristhian Mosquera, whose desperate attempt of getting to the ball resulted in him leg-sweeping the ex-Napoli forward. However, PSG's penalty shootout victory has likely ended any faint hope of Arsenal signing the 25-year-old.

He said: "It's an incredible feeling. I was very tired, but when it was all over, I still had the energy to run and celebrate.

The fact Arsenal were not crowned champions of Europe will mean the process of convincing him to leave the dominant French side and try his luck in the Premier League will be difficult, if not impossible.
Arsenal would have been aware of this before the showpiece final in Budapest. This is because Kvaratskhelia also publicly reaffirmed his commitment to the two-time Champions League winners.
In April, he told Telefoot: "Even though I achieved my greatest club dream by winning the Champions League, I still want to win many titles with PSG and play in the World Cup with my country."
