Thomas Tuchel should ban England players from taking ‘stutter penalties’ at the World Cup after Arsenal ’s Champions League spotkick shootout debacle, fans say.
Supporters have demanded the Three Lions’ boss gets tough with his shimmying stars at the tournament which starts in the US, Canada and Mexico next week. The two Arsenal players to miss in Saturday’s 4-3 penalty shootout defeat by Paris Saint-Germain both took ‘stupid’ run-ups, fans said.
Eberechi Eze, 27, who is part of Tuchel’s squad, took about 10 baby-steps then threw in a stutter before blasting his spotkick wide of the right-hand post to give PSG an early advantage in the Champions League showdown in Budapest, Hungary.

Then Brazilian Gabriel Magalhães, 28, handed the trophy to the French champions after clearing the crossbar with his effort. He deployed a straight run up, a two-step shimmy to the right and then a stutter to the left.
All the shootout penalty takers who just ran up and wellied the ball scored.
Channel 5 news presenter Dan Walker asked on X: “Should Tuchel ban stutter penalties for the World Cup?” A host of fans agreed.
One, who posted footage of Eze missing a similar stuttering kick for his former club Crystal Palace, wrote: “Arteta clearly didn’t do his homework on Eze and penalties. Tuchel you better not! #Arsenal #Crystalpalace #nufc #England.”

Another said: “Stupid run ups cost you penalty shootouts - Tuchel needs to drill that into the England squad.”
One more added: “I thought they executed the game plan to perfection. They were let down by those stupid stutter run penalties. Pick ya spot and run up and shoot. Hope Tuchel imposes that for World Cup.”
