Following a weekend of mixed emotions, attention will shortly shift towards how Arsenal will go about their Premier League title defence.

There were shattered dreams in Budapest as the Gunners endured a heartbreaking penalty shootout loss to PSG in the Champions League final. Yet the disappointment turned to celebration once more on Sunday as the club held its trophy parade to mark securing the league title for the first time in 22 years.

Mikel Arteta will shortly focus on next season, recognising the Gunners must continue to evolve. Their rivals will be eager to narrow the divide, with Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, who dismissed Arne Slot on Saturday, poised for fresh starts under new management.

Meanwhile, Manchester United could pose a renewed challenge after appointing Michael Carrick to the role on a permanent basis. Arteta will attempt to strengthen across the pitch, while numerous exits are also anticipated. Here's a round-up of the latest Arsenal news...

Keeper contact made

Arsenal remain interested in Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi and may sign the 25-year-old this summer, according to reports emerging from Italy. Carnesecchi came through the Serie A club's academy and has been their first-choice shot-stopper since the 2023/24 campaign.

During the campaign just concluded, he registered an impressive tally of 17 clean sheets as Atalanta secured seventh place in Serie A. Atalanta, familiar with conducting business with Premier League clubs, have reportedly placed a £35million valuation on Carnesecchi.

The Gunners are understood to have contacted Carnesecchi's agent, Alessandro Lucci, who also looks after Riccardo Calafiori. The transfer could depend on whether he is willing to accept a supporting role to David Raya.

It would additionally cast doubt over second-choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga's future, though it has been suggested they would vie for the position of primary understudy to Raya.

Odegaard addresses future

Martin Odegaard insists he wishes to remain at the club for "many years" ahead. Despite the Gunners' achievements, it has been a season to forget for the Norwegian, who has endured difficulties with both form and fitness.

However, after the Champions League final, he expressed his ambition to stay and help the club achieve further triumphs. He said: "There is nothing to say at the moment, I am under contract here and really happy here and hopefully I can stay many years."

Odegaard, who was substituted in the second half against PSG, acknowledged it was difficult to watch the club go so close to a first-ever Champions League crown. He added: "It is tough to watch from the sides. It's small margins and you want to win it so bad. To end up with nothing is brutal.

"Again, that's part of football and still we have done some incredible things this season. We get this close and we will come again next year
