Transfer targets: Ederson, Adam Wharton, Morgan Rogers
The summer window is yet to open but the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool are already working on new signings. Premier League champions Arsenal are set for another huge summer, with Morgan Rogers a key target as Mikel Arteta demands four new players. A left-sided attacker is the dream, along with a new striker, midfielder and right-back, and Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi is also of interest.
Arsenal could face competition for the Aston Villa star from Chelsea, whose new manager Xabi Alonso is set to be given much more power over transfers and is expecting to need a replacement for wantaway Enzo Fernandez. Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton is also of interest, while fellow target Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest looks set to join Manchester City as incoming new manager Enzo Maresca makes his mark on the squad.
Manchester United are set to make Ederson their first summer signing, and also want another midfielder, a new left winger and left-back. Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali has been linked. Tottenham will soon announce the free signings of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson to kick off a bumper summer of spending, and Liverpool are closing in on the appointment of Andoni Iraola as their new manager, after Arne Slot was sacked. Arsenal's transfer priority
Arsenal have four targets in mind this summer, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.
Despite spending almost £300million last summer, and then winning the Premier League, Mikel Arteta is in no mood to rest on his laurels, or leave the club kitty alone.
Minutes after Arsenal lost the Champions League final, Ornstein said on TNT Sports: "The number nine position is interesting. A penny for the thoughts of Victor Gyokeres tonight, his first season, and he helped them to this final and then was put on the bench.
"Then the left-sided attack is a big priority for them, and they’ve been looking at it for a few years, and I think they may be the summer where they really go for something. They’ve got the options there.
"They want a six/eight midfielder. They want to strengthen at right-back as well. So when you tally up what they’ve got to do, you could see that outlay in the market from last summer repeated or even exceeded."
