Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has his sights on signing Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers during the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.
The Gunners ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title last season and only came short against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final on penalties.
There is no doubt that the club must upgrade their frontline further, and The Mirror claim that Arteta wants to start a summer plan to build on last season’s success with marquee signings.
The Spanish tactician has Rogers firmly in his sights, and there is a belief that Villa may sell to help balance their books. Rogers can operate as a number 10 or on the left side of the attack.
The left wing position is a key area that Arsenal want to strengthen this summer, and Rogers has emerged as a top target, given Arteta’s preference for players who can operate in multiple positions.
PSG could compete with the Gunners for the England international this summer.
Rogers would be a statement signing for Arsenal
The 23-year-old had a good 2025/26 season with the Villans, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists.
He played almost 65 percent of his minutes as an attacking midfielder, with the rest on the left wing. However, it is quite evident from his movement that he has a slight bias for the left flank.
Arsenal may see him as a starter on the left wing ahead of Leandro Trossard, with Gabriel Martinelli likely to depart. Martinelli is only 24, and the Gunners could secure part of the funds from his sale.
Rogers would be a statement signing for Arsenal. He would provide a different dimension to their attack, given his direct running and dribbling. He likes to take on defenders without fear of losing possession.
The Englishman also has the knack of scoring long-range goals. He does not shy away from shooting from distance, even if off target. He unleashed 35 scoring attempts from outside the box last term.
In comparison, Trossard and Martinelli managed a combined 17. Villa are currently looking for a fee of at least £80 million for the attacker, and it could easily move up to £100m with performance add-ons.
The price tag should not concern the Gunners, who are financially strong. With PSG also in the pursuit, Arsenal must be proactive to beat Les Parisiens in the race for the former Bristol City man.
A deal prior to the summer World Cup would be ideal, as a strong showing at the global tournament could invite more transfer offers for Rogers and potentially raise his valuation even further.
