Liverpool finds itself in unfamiliar territory, grappling with the aftermath of Arne Slot's dismissal.
Prior to Slot, the Reds had relieved just five managers of their duties since the turn of the millennium. The post-mortem is well underway on Merseyside, with supporters and pundits alike offering their views on how Slot came to find himself out of a job just one year after guiding the club to the Premier League title.
In Liverpool.com's latest news round-up, a former Red has weighed in on the unfolding situation at Anfield, while a decision has also been reached regarding another player linked with a departure.
Carragher voices concern
Anfield legend Jamie Carragher admitted he was caught off guard by Slot's dismissal, and believes responsibility for the entire affair lies with a number of parties.
He told Sky Sports: "I was torn on Arne Slot, I must say, I would've backed any decision, and I can see both sides of the argument, but an elite football manager finds a way to fix Liverpool to make it better, but he wasn't helped with recruitment.
"Have any one of them done well? You could put that on the manager. Does he need to get more out of them? Should them players have done more? Yes. Should the people above him give him a better squad? Yes. There's a lot of people to point fingers at."

He added: "There is no doubt that he lost supporters, I think that was harsh on the back of what happened 12 months before. Supporter base has a huge influence, when you talk about player power, that can't have helped with Salah. I'm not happy with that. I don't ever want Liverpool Football Club to have player power to speak out about a manager who won the Premier League.
"What manager does it help when a star player comes out publicly criticizing the manager? That shouldn't happen, no matter the situation. Maybe it's forced the clubs' hand. I don't know what goes on in the dressing room.
"I didn't like Mo Salah's post; I didn't think he should come out publicly. Who does get on with every manager? Players have lots of different managers, but you don't go out on social media and do it publicly or put clapping emojis when someone's having a go at your own manager. That probably tells you what's going on in the Liverpool dressing room right now."
Carragher also suggested that Liverpool's incoming manager will face pressure to deliver the league title, while expressing concern that managing the demands of a packed fixture schedule might not suit all the potential candidates reportedly being considered.
He continued: "My worry is, can you play at that intensity when you're playing every three days? Whenever you bring in a manager for a top club at England, can they win the league? Liverpool had a manager who won the league, that's why I was always torn, whoever comes in is a risk, but Liverpool did have a manager who won the league."

Gomez to remain
According to The Athletic, Joe Gomez will be remaining at Anfield to fulfill the final year of his contract, meaning he will depart next summer rather than this one.
The long-serving defender joined the Reds in 2015 and had attracted interest from AC Milan last summer and Newcastle in 2024. The center-back came close to departing on transfer deadline day last year, but remained at the club following the collapse of a deal for Marc Guehi, then of Crystal Palace. The versatile 29-year-old managed just six Premier League starts this campaign, however.
The development will come as something of a relief to supporters, following the unsettling news that Ibrahima Konate is set to depart Anfield this summer. The 27-year-old will follow Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson through the exit door after failing to reach an agreement over a new contract.
