Alexander Isak is confident that he will be able to play a key part for Sweden this summer at the World Cup, despite missing the majority of his first season with Liverpool through injury.

Arriving from Newcastle lacking match sharpness, Isak struggled to get up to speed at Anfield. He then broke his leg in the act of scoring against Tottenham in December and never managed to get into his groove.

For Sweden to have any chance of reaching the latter stages of the World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico, though, Isak will need to step up. And he will take part in a friendly in Norway today in preparation.

Manchester City star Erling Haaland is likely to play for Norway, but Arsenal duo Martin Odegaard and Viktor Gyokeres will not be involved as they played in the Champions League final only a few days ago.

In the UK, the game will be shown live by Amazon Prime. In the US, it is set to be televised by Fubo, FS2, and Fox One. It is to be held at Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo and the referee is Hungary's Balazs Berke.

Isak opened up on his Liverpool injury troubles ahead of the game when he spoke during a press conference.

"It was a pain, it wasn’t fun," the 26-year-old said of his leg break six months ago. "I’ve had some muscle injuries before, but this was my first surgery.

"It was a bit of a scary experience. It has been a challenge with a lot of rehab. It’s the most boring thing in football. Doing a lot of it is not fun.

"I’ve had some injury concerns as you know. The most important thing is that I’m in good shape for the World Cup premiere. There’s a little while left so I can work on that."

"Thank you for all gaffer," Isak wrote on his Instagram story on Monday, in reference to Slot's dismissal. "Wishing you all the best going forward."

Liverpool teammate Florian Wirtz scored for Germany against Finland this week in preparation for the World Cup, while Alisson Becker played 45 minutes for Brazil as they beat Panama 6-2.

The World Cup kicks off in 10 days, with Alisson and Brazil the first Liverpool representation. They play Morocco on day three of the tournament in New Jersey.
