Arsenal director Josh Kroenke announces‘top priority’to wrap up deal for Premier League winner

Arsenal director Josh Kroenke has reportedly identified securing a new contract for manager Mikel Arteta as the club’s “utmost priority” this summer, underlining the board’s commitment to long-term stability at the Emirates Stadium.

According to emerging reports, Kroenke has made clear internally that extending Arteta’s stay is central to Arsenal’s ongoing project, as the club continues to build around the Spaniard’s philosophy of tactical control, squad cohesion, and sustained competitiveness at the top of English and European football.

Arteta, who has overseen a significant transformation since taking charge, has guided ARSENAL from a period of inconsistency into consistent title winners and Champions League contenders. His work in reshaping the squad, modernising the club’s playing style, and integrating younger talents has been widely credited with restoring Arsenal’s status among Europe’s elite.

The current discussions are understood to centre on extending Arteta’s long-term future beyond his existing deal, with club executives keen to avoid any uncertainty heading into a crucial period of squad development. Arsenal’s leadership group reportedly views continuity in the dugout as essential to maximising recent investment in both established stars and emerging prospects

Kroenke said: “Keeping Mikel around is an utmost priority and the good news for ARSENAL fans worldwide is he’s enjoying the project. He is enjoying being here and, from his time as a player all the way up until now, he’s an Arsenal man through and through.

“If there is a singular person you can trace this all back to, I’m going to give 100 per cent credit to Mikel, his staff and the players. Those are the ones.

“As much as Mikel is putting together our tactics, the players have got to go play the games, they’ve got to go and win for you.”

The timing of the contract priority is also seen as significant, coming during a period where Arsenal are expected to be active in the transfer market. Ensuring managerial stability is viewed internally as a key factor in attracting top-level signings and maintaining squad confidence ahead of another demanding campaign.

Kroenke’s reported comments further reinforce the club’s long-term vision, which prioritises sustainable growth over short-term restructuring. Arsenal’s hierarchy are understood to believe that continuity under Arteta has been a decisive factor in their recent progress and that extending his contract would provide further platform for success.

As preparations continue for the summer window, attention is expected to remain firmly on negotiations with Arteta’s representatives. While details are still being finalised, the message from the club’s leadership is clear: securing the manager’s future is the central pillar of Arsenal’s planning for the next phase of their evolution
