It’s been a funny day for Kendry Paez. On the one hand, he’s just been named in Ecuador’s World Cup squad for the upcoming tournament, alongside fellow Chelsea man Moises Caicedo.

On the other hand, his club career continues to go sideways at a worrying rate. In the three years since we bought the wonderkid for £17m as a 16 year old, very little has gone right.

Chelsea star’s off field behaviour causing problems once again

His loan to Strasbourg last season went badly enough that he was sent to River Plate in January. But since then he’s only managed a handful of starts for the Argentine giants, and there are reports today that they too could decide to cut the loan short.

“River could interrupt the loan of Kendry Páez because he did not meet expectations. [Manager Eduardo] Coudet didn’t like his on-field and off-field behavior,” wrote Argentine reported Renzo Pantich in quotes picked up by the Chelsea Chronicle.

Matheus Fernandes is going to be a top target for a number of Premier League teams this summer after showing what he can do for a relegated West Ham team. Chelsea have been linked.
