North London is bleeding red. Profusely. The scenes around N5 yesterday were absolute carnage as Gooners took to the roofs to show the likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, David Raya – and the rest of Mikel Arteta’s merry Arsenal men – how much they appreciated their season-long efforts to win them the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.
Any hangovers from the previous night’s Champions League slow death to Paris Saint Germain weren’t visible, partially due to the red mist from flares but also due to the sheer volume of sunglasses (and goggles?) worn by the busload of players as they cruised round North London at a snail’s pace in front of 1.5 million-odd delirious fans.
But Bukayo Saka’s wraparound sunnies and backwards cap weren’t the only victory parade accessories of choice on show as he hoisted the Prem trophy over his head to a constant wave of “Weeeeeys!” Yep, for the 24-year-old it felt like as good an occasion as any to wear his most Arsenal-coded watch; an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ Extra Thin with a smoked burgundy red dial – in titanium no less.

Arsenal’s Starboy has been a symbol of hope and promise for the club ever since he burst into the team in 2019; more Arsenal through and through thanks to his footballing education from Hale End academy since he was seven, so it’s no surprise to see him bleeding red at every possible opportunity. While Arsenal superfan Zohran Mamdani and teammate Eberechi Eze both like to keep it real (and lowkey) with Casio watches, Saka has a starrier side to him he needs to uphold, which is why this AP hits the perfect note amid the club’s wildest celebrations for two decades.
I haven’t seen Saka rocking this killer watch before so where or not he was waiting for this moment to debut it, I’m not 100% sure, but eager watchspotters like Young Brando were certainly very quick to notice such a grail on show. Aboard top deck on the banter bus, his AP was in good company as Arteta was wearing his trusty Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II while ballers Viktor Gyökeres and Noni Madueke were flying the flag for most Premier League footballers by wearing their Patek Philippe Nautilus watches – but much like footballing ability, when it comes to raising the levels, no one came close to Saka’s superior flex.
“Bukayooooo, SAKA! Running down the wing, SAKA! Hear the Arsenal sing, SAKA! We are gonna win the league!” After making Arsenal fan’s favourite Saka chant come true, it might be due an upgrade. Needs more red; just like his exemplary watch flex.
