Nichols’s contract is set to expire at the end of this month, and the Gunners will only be due minimal compensation as he is moving abroad.
It’s been a difficult season for Nichols
The teenager was given his senior debut by manager Mikel Arteta against Bolton Wanderers in the third round of the Carabao Cup near the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.
However, first team opportunities have been few and far between since then. Nichols has only made the substitutes’ bench once during the whole of the 2025/26 season.
That came back in early December, when he was an unused sub during the 3-0 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League group fixture.
Arsenal want to sign a new right-back
Nichols may not be the only right-back leaving the club over the coming weeks and months, with doubts over the future of Ben White.
The England international has struggled with fitness issues over the past two seasons, and he could be sold after five years with the Gunners.
If White does leave, it is expected that a replacement will be brought in. Several names have been mentioned as potential targets.
Newcastle’s Tino Livramento, Atalanta’s Marco Palestra and Roma’s Wesley have all been linked with transfers to the London club over the last month or so.
