Arsenal are keeping close tabs on Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, according to reports in the Italian media.

TuttoAtalanta.com claim that the Gunners have the 25-year-old firmly in their sights.

Scouts from the London club are said to have followed Carnesecchi “continuously” for a year and a half.

The keeper’s entourage have also been contacted to determine whether he would be interested in a move to the Emirates.

Carnesecchi shares the same agent as a current Arsenal player

The Italian is represented by Alessandro Lucci, who also has Riccardo Calafiori on his books.

Calafiori had interest from several teams before he opted to move to England from Bologna in the summer of 2024, with Lucci playing a key role in negotiations.

That existing relationship should help get a deal over the line for Carnesecchi, with securing an agreement on personal terms likely to be pretty straightforward.

Atalanta won’t let the goalkeeper leave on the cheap

TuttoAtalanta.com report that Carnesecchi’s asking price is pretty steep. The shot-stopper won’t be allowed to leave unless Arsenal are willing to pay €40m (£35m).

That sizeable valuation would suggest that the chances of a move happening this summer are rather slim. David Raya is one of the best number ones in world football, and manager Mikel Arteta is said to be keen on strengthening other positions.

Speaking to TNT Sports at the weekend, journalist David Ornstein said the Gunners are hoping to bring in a striker, a left winger, a number 6 or number 8, and a right-back.

Recruiting another keeper is not really on the agenda, and that indicates Arteta’s side will continue to maintain a watching brief on Carnesecchi.
