David Raya, Gabriel Magalhaes and Declan Rice have been named in UEFA’s Champions League Team of the Season for 2025/26 following Arsenal’s run to the final.
Raya featured in 14 of the Gunners’ European fixtures, keeping nine clean sheets and conceding just five goals on the way to Budapest.
In front of him, Gabriel enjoyed another outstanding campaign. While the Brazilian will understandably be remembered for his missed penalty in the shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, his performances across the competition were among the best of any defender in Europe.
William Saliba can perhaps count himself unfortunate to miss out. The UEFA Technical Observer Group opted instead for PSG captain Marquinhos alongside Gabriel in the heart of the defence.
Rice’s inclusion comes as little surprise after another influential European campaign. The midfielder scored against Bayer Leverkusen, provided two assists and was a driving force behind Arsenal’s progress to the final. Speaking at Sunday’s parade, he vowed the Gunners would return stronger next season.
The England international’s selection comes just days after he was named the BBC’s Premier League Footballer of the Year.
Raya, Jurrien Timber, Gabriel, Saliba and Rice were also included in the BBC’s Team of the Year, while Mikel Arteta picked up the Manager of the Year award.
