Chelsea transfer target agrees to join PSG instead

Chelsea will be looking to strengthen in several areas across the pitch in this summer transfer window. The Blues should definitely look towards bringing in reinforcements on the wings. They did try to do so last year. The club splashed north of £90 million combined, signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United and Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund.

Neither has proven to be a success story. On the contrary, they might not even be good enough squad players. There have been suggestions that Garnacho could be moved on this summer if a decent offer arrives. And although there seems to be more patience with Gittens, who spent a long time injured, when he did play, he looked raw and nowhere near ready. Pedro Neto has also been linked with an exit lately.

So, it would make sense for the club to go out and sign another winger or two this summer. Yan Diomande is someone who is believed to be on their radar. But there is some bad news in that regard.

According to Foot Mercato, Diomande has given his approval to join Paris Saint-Germain. Now, it remains to be seen if PSG can reach an agreement with RB Leipzig.

Yan Diomande chooses move to PSG

Diomande has been linked with a move to Chelsea for months. Liverpool are believed to be interested in him as well. But it looks like PSG are now the frontrunners to sign him.

Of course, nothing is done yet. PSG will need to reach an agreement on a fee with RB Leipzig. And it is believed they will want a significant figure.

In the past, that has never been a problem for PSG though. And if they are really convinced about Diomande, one would imagine they will find the agreement that they need to complete this deal.

What does that mean for Chelsea? Well, if they were serious about signing Diomande, it is time to look towards other options.

Who could Chelsea sign this summer?

Chelsea have been linked with a few other wingers recently as well. One of them is Jarrod Bowen of West Ham United.

With West Ham getting relegated, the door might be open for Chelsea to swoop in and sign someone like Bowen. He would fit the Premier League-proven criteria that the club seem to be looking to fill this summer.

Another winger they seem to have on their radar is Rafael Leao. The Portuguese international seems keen to leave AC Milan this summer. He could be available for a similar fee as Bowen.

One would imagine that other options will crop up between now and the start of the summer window. One can only hope that Chelsea make the right choice this time around.
