This one is moving fast. On Tuesday evening, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that talks between Tottenham and Manchester City over Savinho are ongoing, the 22-year-old Brazilian is open to the move, and Tottenham are already making progress on personal terms. Romano’s verdict was blunt: “Deal ON.”
Tottenham sent two official bids for Savinho last August, with the second understood to be around £60 million. Man City blocked both, choosing instead to hand the winger a new six-year contract in October 2025. But the season that followed made that decision look questionable. Savinho started only 16 games across all competitions, scored four goals, and was left out of Brazil’s World Cup squad entirely. He wants regular football. Guardiola is gone. Enzo Maresca is coming in, and Manchester City, fresh from winning the FA Cup but having finished second in the Premier League behind Arsenal, are not sentimental about players who want out.
Tottenham’s need in wide areas is obvious to anyone who watched them nearly go down last season. Wilson Odobert will not be back until later in 2026-27 after his ACL injury. Mohammed Kudus made just 12 appearances before a quad problem ended his campaign in January and his future at the club is unclear. Mathys Tel improved under De Zerbi but is better suited to a central role. Savinho covers both flanks, presses with intensity, and is the kind of direct, dynamic winger De Zerbi’s system rewards.
Tottenham could get Savinho for £10m cheaper
TEAMtalk reported City’s asking price at £60 million, £10 million less than what the Lilywhites were willing to pay last summer. Now with talks ongoing between the two clubs being confirmed, they could negotiate it for a cheaper deal.
