As the summer window draws nearer, the chances of Alejandro Garnacho remaining a Chelsea player next season seem to be growing more and more unlikely.
Bought from Manchester United for £40m last summer, Garnacho was considered an exciting signing if the Blues could get his attitude in check. But the Argentine has struggled since his move to London.

Chelsea have been linked with both this summer.
Used rotationally, Garnacho simply has not had the impact that he might have hoped for. Often the source of boos from opposition fans, the winger’s attitude has not improved, often seen moaning.
Chelsea are planning to cash in on Garnacho this summer. Paul Scholes thinks Atletico Madrid would be the perfect home for the winger, but they are not among the four clubs supposedly considering a move.
Serie A battle for Alejandro Garnacho is heating up
According to Italian report AS Roma Live, Juventus, Milan and Roma have joined Napoli in the race to lure Garnacho to Italy for the first time in his career. But there’s a problem and it is symptomatic of BlueCo.

The Blues decision to hand Garnacho a seven-year contract is backfiring. It means Chelsea are requesting the fee they signed him for from Man United, and as per the report, that will scupper a move to Italy.
Given Garnacho’s poor form during 2025-26, Chelsea are going to have take a loss on the Argentine if they are to stand any chance of selling him. That, or they agree to a loan-to-buy deal this summer.
Man United to receive Garnacho fee if Chelsea sell winger
The problem Chelsea have is that if they do reduce the fee for Garnacho, it will not only count as a loss, but BlueCo won’t even receive 100% of the fee paid. That is because of a clause in Garnacho’s contract.
Mohamed Salah back at Chelsea, who says no?🤔
Manchester United boast a 10% sell-on clause in Garnacho’s deal. If Chelsea somehow manage to get the £40m fee they paid United for his services, then £4m of that will be sent to Old Trafford in due course.
Realistically, Chelsea would do well to get anything north of £20m for Garnacho this summer, especially with clubs aware that the Blues want him off the books. But as things stand, Italy looks most likely.
