Aston Villa set Morgan Rogers asking price

Arsenal are also pursuing Morgan Rogers this summer, and see him as an option on the left-hand side of their attack.

Aston Villa are desperate to keep hold of one of their most-prized assets, and have slapped a huge price tag to ward off suitors.

Initial reports suggested that Rogers would cost more than the £100million Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish.

But fresh claims from TEAMtalk suggest that a mere £80m would force Villa's hand.

With Julian Alvarez likely to cost a club-record fee for Arsenal, surpassing the £105m Declan Rice cost, the Gunners could be looking at an outlay of more than £200m for the pair.

Arsenal make Julian Alvarez their dream target

Arsenal have made Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez their dream signing this summer.

According to BBC Sport, Mikel Arteta will not rest on his laurels this summer, and has made a new striker and left-sided attacker two of his four transfer priorities.

And Alvarez is top of the list, despite stiff competition from both Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

The forward is expected to leave the Spanish capital this summer, two years after joining from Manchester City in a deal worth around £81million. It was Gunners’ sporting director, Andrea Berta, who negotiated that move a year before leaving Atleti for north London.

Alvarez still has four years to run on his current contract, and reportedly recently rejected the offer of an extension.

Arsenal last season reportedly weighed up a move for Alvarez before signing Viktor Gyokeres, but interest remains real heading into the summer transfer window.

When does the summer window open and close?

The transfer window officially opens Monday, June 15, and runs until Deadline Day, on Tuesday, September 1.

The window will close at 11pm on Deadline Day, which is later than the 7pm close in January.

ICYMI: Guessand latest

Evann Guessand is weighing up his options after Crystal Palace’s option to buy the on-loan Aston Villa forward expired yesterday.

Standard Sport understands that while Palace remain interested in Guessand, they will now face competition from clubs in England and Europe for the 24-year-old’s signature.

Guessand joined the Eagles on loan in January with an option to buy at around £28million.

Chelsea make Acheampong untouchable

Chelsea have rejected multiple transfer approaches for highly-rated young defender Josh Acheampong.

The youngster found himself limited to just 17 Premier League appearances, eight of which were starts, and only completed 90 minutes on one occasion, a goalless draw at home to Crystal Palace in the first match of the season.

Despite his fringe role last campaign, though, Chelsea have no plans to sell the talented defender. Standard Sport understands the club has rebuffed multiple approaches for Acheampong’s services from clubs in England and Europe.

He has been dubbed untouchable ahead of Xabi Alonso’s move to west London.

Rashford facing Man Utd return

Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford is expected to rejoin the club this summer.

Rashford spent last season with Barcelona but the newly crowned La Liga champions are unwilling to fulfill his £26m buy option, and hope to talk United down closer to £13m, per reports in The Times.

Anthony Gordon’s £70m move to the Nou Camp has further damaged his prospects of a transfer, though Barcelona are said to be open to another loan spell.

The forward is said to be ‘resigned’ to rejoining United this summer.

Chelsea eye Wharton move

Chelsea are closely monitoring Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton this summer.

That’s according to journalist Dean Jones, who reports that Chelsea have scouted Wharton extensively and view him as a strong candidate to strengthen their midfield this summer.

Jones claims that interest in Wharton is not linked to Enzo Fernandez’s future - with the vice-captain keen to leave this summer - but rather an update on the likes of Romeo Lavia and Andrey Santos.

Chelsea are keen to provide Xabi Alonso with more Premier League-proven performers rather than focus their transfer efforts on promising youngsters.

Wharton would command a huge fee, but a deal is not considered impossible.

Arsenal make Rogers priority

Morgan Rogers is Arsenal’s dream signing this summer, with Mikel Arteta pushing for the move.

According to reports in the Mirror, Aston Villa’s Rogers has been made the Gunners’ key target as Arteta urges the club to show greater ambition following defeat in the Champions League final.

Rogers is attracting interest from several top clubs, including former club Manchester City. TEAMtalk report that Villa would want demand a fee more than £100million Jack Grealish cost in 2021.

Arsenal may then require to sell, with Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus available to the highest bidder.

Real Madrid shortlist Spurs star

Real Madrid could move for Pedro Porro this summer as they look to sign a new right-back.

The news follows long-serving Dani Carvajal’s departure from the club.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who adds that Denzel Dumfries and Ivan Fresneda join the Spaniard on the shortlist.

Alisson update

More goalkeeper news as we look north to Anfield, where it has been reiterated that Liverpool consider Alisson untouchable this summer.

The Brazilian shotstopper has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe, but per Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have no intention to sell up in the transfer window.

They consider the 33-year-old untouchable.
