Liverpool are in the tussle to sign Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo this summer.
The forward joined the Ligue 1 side from KAA Gent in August 2024. He finished his debut season with four goals and four assists, mainly operating on the left wing.
This season, he mainly operated as a No.9 and at times on both wings, scoring eight goals and contributing seven assists from 41 matches.
His performances have already attracted interest from Manchester City. Last month, Sport Witness relayed news of the Etihad club in the picture for the 21-year-old.
Liverpool join top clubs in signing race
The Merseyside club have emerged as another suitor from the Premier League.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who report the latest on the Reds and others, and also Lille’s stance.
The Belgian’s fine displays helped him make it to Rudi Garcia’s squad for the World Cup. It has also caught the attention of top European clubs.
Borussia Dortmund are keen while Premier League sides are ready to make a move.
The competition is fierce as Liverpool and Bayern Munich join the race. These two clubs closely followed Matias Fernandez-Pardo since last summer and both are ‘very interested’ now.
Lille, who appointed Davide Ancelotti as their new manager, have no intention of letting him leave for cheap. They have set an ‘astronomical price’ of €70m and the figure may increase further if he were to shine at the World Cup.
Fernandez-Pardo won’t oppose extending his stay with the French club. At the same time, he is open to big move if an opportunity arises and the interested party can agree terms with Lille. The player, however, won’t force a move.
Mohamed Salah’s exit and Hugo Ekitiké’s serious injury force Liverpool to strengthen their attack this summer. The Belgian can be a good option due to his ability to play across the front three.
The Reds are unlikely to make any advances until Arne Slot’s successor is appointed.
Contract, value and agent info
Matias Fernandez-Pardo’s contract expires in 2029, and Transfermarkt value him at €35m. This is the highest value and there’s been a €5m raise since March.
British agency Unique Sports Group represent the Lille star. Liverpool know his representatives, having negotiated for Anthony Gordon, before his move from Newcastle United to Barcelona last week.
