Chelsea’s best bet of bringing in top-quality players this summer could be through the Spanish market because of Xabi Alonso’s lure, and a Barcelona attacker has BlueCo on red alert.
Chelsea are expected to be in the market for an attacker or two this summer despite the many players that Alonso will inherit when he officially takes office on July 1. Alonso has to sort out his bloated squad.
DISCUSS: Jarrod Bowen is a better signing than Rafael Leao…
Chelsea have been linked with both this summer.
With Geovany Quenda, Dastan Satpaev, Emmanuel Emegha and more joining this summer, that number is due to increase. This Chelsea squad is built for Europe in terms of its size, and that needs to be reduced.
Also, because Chelsea need better players. Too many are underperforming, and Alonso needs to address that. Using his influence in Spanish football, Alonso might be the key to determining Ferran Torres’ future.
Chelsea on red alert to sign Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres
According to TeamTalk, Torres’ future is in doubt at Barcelona, especially after the Spanish giants secured the signing of Anthony Gordon. Marcus Rashford could still remain, and Julian Alvarez may also join.
That would see Spain star Torres’ place in the squad plummet. As per the report, Torres’ availability has attracted Aston Villa, Arsenal and Chelsea ahead of the summer window, placing them on red alert.

Of course, Torres has proven himself in the Premier League before. Playing 43 times for Man City, the former Valencia star scored 16 goals during his time under Pep Guardiola and laid on four assists.
He has since gone to Barcelona, where he has had a hand in 88 goals and assists in 207 appearances, starting only 113 of those matches. An impressive record that has clearly tempted those interested.
Man City sold Ferran Torres to Barca because of Cole Palmer
In the summer of 2023, Mauricio Pochettino pushed Chelsea to do a £40m deal with Man City and lure Palmer to the Bridge. It proved to be one of BlueCo’s best signings since their takeover in 2022.

Just 18 months before that, Torres moved to Barcelona. According to the Athletic, Man City sold Torres because they believed Palmer would come good, and yet, they decided to sell him to Chelsea in 2023.
Now, the two could end up reuniting at Stamford Bridge. Torres is best from the left wing and Alonso is known to want a new left-sided attacker this summer as he embarks on his third stint as a manager.
