Gabriel Magalhaes and Piero Hincapie are among the Arsenal stars to have shown support for Cristhian Mosquera since Saturday's heartache.

The Arsenal defender conceded the equalising penalty in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain with Luis Enrique's side going on to win back-to-back European titles courtesy of spot-kicks.

In the wake of their gut-wrenching defeat, Mosquera posted a lengthy message on Instagram which several Arsenal stars have responded to. Gabriel, translated to English, said: "Come on brother, let's go together [red heart and arm flexed emoji]."

Also translated from Spanish, Hincapie responded: "Let's go continue [red heart emoji]." Kepa Arrizabalaga sent a heart emoji while former player Oleksandr Zinchenko did similar.

The young Spaniard, out of position and up against PSG superstar Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, had performed well prior to giving away a penalty but his message responding to the error also focused on a great first season.

He wrote on Instagram: "Wow… How quickly everything can change in a matter of moments. When it feels like everything is going perfectly, just as you dreamed of since you were a child, suddenly, in an instant, one action changes everything.

"I’ve spent my whole life dreaming of moments like this, but it didn’t turn out the way I wanted. And that’s when God reminded me that faith is not based on the final result I achieve, but on how I continue to trust after a setback.

"This is a setback that, despite all the pain it brings, will only make me stronger. Even so, my first season at this club has been unforgettable. Champions of England!

"Seeing so many people happy yesterday was an incredible feeling. Enjoying this beautiful moment because you deserve it, and I’m sure many more joyful moments are coming soon for this club.

"We still have so much to experience together. Proud of each and every one of us. Blessed to be part of this group and this huge club. THANK YOU! THIS IS ARSENAL!"

Cristhian Mosquera has issued a defiant message after his error against PSG

With the domestic season over, the World Cup has become the focus for several Arsenal stars but Mosquera will not be representing Spain at the tournament.

The 21-year-old only made his senior debut earlier this year and thus it is perhaps not that surprising that he has been omitted from Luis de la Fuente's squad.

Mosquera very nearly looked set to be joined by a fellow Arsenal defender in missing the World Cup after it emerged that William Saliba had suffered a back injury.

However, it has since been reported in France that initial tests on the issue came back as reassuring which suggests he will still have a role to play.
