West Ham have slapped an £80million price tag on Matheus Fernandes amid interest from Arsenal and Manchester United. Fernandes, 21, is expected to leave the London Stadium following West Ham's relegation to the Championship.
Despite the Irons' woes, Fernandes consistently impressed with a string of complete performances, scoring five goals and registering five assists. The midfielder only arrived from Southampton last summer in a deal worth up to £42m.
Although West Ham would prefer to keep Fernandes, they may have little choice but to sell him amid their lack of Premier League funds. The Times report that West Ham will demand £80m for the Portuguese, while Southampton will be owed 15 per cent of any fee thanks to a sell-on clause.
It's noted that Arsenal have a good relationship with West Ham which could give them the edge in negotiations. Mikel Arteta likes Fernandes' versatility and wants to add technically-gifted players to his squad this summer.
United, on other hand, are looking at several different midfielders, with the aim of bringing in three during the window. The Red Devils are already closing in on a deal for Atalanta star Ederson while the likes of Fernandes, Elliot Anderson, Aurelian Tchouameni and Sandro Tonali are also on their shortlist.
After making his senior debut for Portugal earlier this year, Fernandes missed out on Roberto Martinez's final 26-man squad for the World Cup. His future is therefore likely to be resolved in pre-season, as opposed to other targets like England international Morgan Rogers, who both Arsenal and United are also keen on.

Aston Villa intend to keep Rogers after he helped them win the Europa League and finish fourth in the Premier League. But Villa could be pressured into selling the 23-year-old in order to comply with UEFA's financial rules, despite him having five years left on his contract.
Arsenal have previously explored signing Rogers and multiple reports claim that he'd be open to the move. United may have a trump card, though, as [Jason Wilcox](http://Jason Wilcox) was in charge of Manchester City's academy when Rogers was brought to the club, only to be sold after Wilcox had left.
