Chelsea are keeping close tabs on Ferran Torres’s situation at Barcelona, according to reports.
The Spanish international had a good season in front of goal, finding the back of the net 21 times in 49 appearances.
Head coach Hansi Flick is also a big fan of Torres’s and would like to keep him at the Camp Nou this summer.
However, TEAMtalk claim that the 26-year-old has been left “frustrated” following reports that he could be offered as part of a deal for Atletico Madrid‘s Julian Alvarez.
It appears as if Torres is not happy that Barca are willing to use him as a makeweight, and he is considering his options.

Why do Chelsea want the player?
It is believed that the Blues’ recruitment team admire his versatility. He is able to score goals consistently despite being deployed right across the front three.
The left wing is a problem position for Xabi Alonso’s side, with neither Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens having particularly impressed last season, so the Barca star could be deployed there.
Torres could also be selected as a no.9 by Alonso, especially if the decision is made to offload Liam Delap, who has struggled since his £30m move from Ipswich Town last summer.
Torres does have other suitors
TEAMtalk report that Arsenal and Aston Villa are also monitoring the Spaniard, while Serie A side Como could be a surprise contender for his signature too.
The club are managed by former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who guided the Italian minnows to Champions League qualification last month.
It is still possible that Torres remains with Barcelona, especially if they fail to secure the services of Alvarez, but another factor to keep in mind is the player’s contract situation.
His current deal expires at the end of next season, and if he doesn’t sign an extension soon, a sale before the summer transfer window closes seems likely.
