Stars of our men’s and women’s teams spoke to Frimmy and Nakeira West respectively at Sunday’s trophy parade around north London.
Amid scenes of wild celebration, plenty of players took some time to answer questions from our presenters on the special Live From N5 show, and you can see in full how they reflected on an amazing occasion below!
**Martinelli**: “It’s been an amazing season for us. These people have been with us the whole journey. It’s amazing to share this moment with them and the trophy over there. I’m really happy to see them that happy as well. There are no words to describe this moment. This is for the fans, for the staff, for everyone, for the players. We’ve been trying to give our best on the pitch for us and for them as well. To be here today is amazing, we just need to enjoy it.”
**Nwaneri**: “I was watching the Bournemouth game in my bed! Myles called me."
**Lewis-Skelly**: “I woke him up, definitely!”
**Merino**: “It’s magical. I’m very proud and happy to be back with this team, to be celebrating this title with the fans. I think it was a really hard season with ups and downs but we deserve to be here and enjoy it with our fanbase. It was a special day for me at Palace, coming back after a long injury. To feel like a footballer again and lift that trophy, winning the most important league in the world, it’s been the perfect season and I can’t ask for any more.”
**Havertz**: “ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL! ARSENAL!"
**Odegaard**: “It feels amazing, it’s been a while. We’ve been working hard for this and to enjoy it with our people here is amazing. Let’s hear from Kai!”
**Havertz**: “It’s amazing to be here. Let’s just enjoy the moment now and be proud of ourselves. We waited a long time and I think… ARSENAL!”
**Raya**: “I trust every single player and they make my life much easier. Of course I try to be there for the team as always and this season, throughout the whole campaign, we have defended very well and that helped us to achieve what we have achieved. Winning three Golden Gloves in a row never crossed my mind but as soon as you get the first one you think maybe it’s a one-off. Then when you get the second and third one, it’s not just me, it’s the whole team. It’s crazy to think that we won it three times in a row and hopefully we can go for a fourth one! My mum says I’m the brave one but I think her and my dad were the brave ones to let their son at 16 years old go to another country, to another culture, speaking no English, to pursue a dream. I have to thank them because if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
**Rice**: “They pointed and they laughed. They’re not laughing anymore! I’m honestly speechless, I’ve lost my voice. I love this team, I love this manager. To see the joy we can give people, it’s crazy, but next year we’re coming back for more. Lock in or get locked out!”
**Williamson**: “I’m a fan so I’m just as much enjoying the men’s celebrations but it’s so nice. They’ve had a really successful growth journey over the last few years so to be here today, you can see how much the fans mean to us and we mean to them. I think it says a lot about the club that players stayed in one place for so long, how sad they are to leave and we’re sad to lose them. It makes room for somebody else to come and make that their journey, so I hope that’s what younger girls in the squad see.”
