The huge club-record fee Chelsea would have to pay to sign Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen has long been linked with a move to Chelsea. This summer, signing the Galatasaray ace feels unlikely, and now, Chelsea have been told just how much he’d cost.

The 27-year-old is now entering the peak years of his career and is yet to test his skills in England, despite being constantly linked with the Premier League’s biggest clubs. Osimhen has been in Turkey since 2024.

Chelsea have been linked with both this summer.

After years at Napoli, a failed move to the Middle East involving Ivan Toney saw Osimhen go to Turkey in 2024 and join Galatasaray. The striker has since joined permanently, scoring 59 goals in 74 appearances.

This summer is no different when it comes to English clubs eyeing Osimhen. People close to Osimhen believe a move to Chelsea has legs even with no European football, but Galatasaray have other ideas.

Chelsea told how much Galatasaray want for Victor Osimhen

Chelsea are likely to be in the market for a striker. Joao Pedro has been sensational, and Chelsea have ruled out a summer exit for the Brazilian, but Liam Delap and Marc Guiu could end up going this summer.

Emmanuel Emegha will join from Strasbourg this summer, but there are already doubts regarding the Dutch ace. A new striker could be brought in by Xabi Alonso, and Osimhen might have been a target.

But Galatasaray are playing hardball. According to Turkish side Sabah, Galatasaray will not consider bids for Osimhen below £130m, meaning Chelsea would have to smash their transfer record to sign him.

It is hard for Chelsea to break their transfer record after £100m+ deals for Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo; a £130m fee for Osimhen would see Chelsea smash their transfer record in the coming months.

Osimhen joining Chelsea was unlikely; now it is off the cards

Without European football, Chelsea’s transfer kitty was always going to be limited. The Blues have plenty of dead wood they can sell to raise the transfer budget, with Alonso keen to bring in a few new signings.

Realistically, a new starting striker is not going to be at the top of Alonso’s priorities with Pedro playing so well last season and winning the club’s Player of the Season award. So, Osimhen was always very unlikely.

With Galatasaray wanting £130m, any chance of Chelsea doing a deal is off the table. Only a few clubs in the world can afford such a figure. As things stand, Osimhen looks as if he will remain at Stamford Bridge.
